Peculiar Matters

I responded to a call for entry at the Brentwood Arts Exchange a while back, and was invited to participate in a 3 person group show called Peculiar Matters. In addition to a loop of Brains, I have 54 watches on display, including Abecedarian II. As of this writing, I haven’t seen the show yet (it doesn’t actually open until Monday).

From the Brentwood website:

This Exhibition runs from June 2 – Aug 16

The group exhibition Peculiar Matters dives into a world of found objects, reflections of time and space, and awkward landscapes. Artists Tory Cowles, Jim Doran, and Sean Riley, working in multiple disciplines, create conversations through humor, color, and sculptural constructs. Individually, each artist delivers a unique visionary narrative. Together, their work in the exhibition will create noteworthy discussions between the artwork and the viewer.

Meet the talented artists, mingle with fellow art enthusiasts, and enjoy free refreshments during the Closing Reception!

The Closing Reception for this exhibition will be held on August 16, from 2-4 PM.

Off the Web

The opening of the Baker Artist in person show took place this evening at the Peale Museum, and it is a very impressive show. There are so many working artists in the area, and I think this show is impactful. It’s open through January 2025.

My animation Brains is playing in the Rowhouse Room on the 2nd floor.

We had dinner at La Calle in Fell’s Point, which makes our third visit there.

Here are the details:

Baker Artist Portfolios: Off The Web

ArtScape 40

Brains will screen at the Parkway theater tonight as part of the Sweaty Eyeballs animation block of ArtScape. I love that place!

I spent a little time on Charles street before hitting up some films at the parkway.

Brains looked and sounded great! What a thrill to see it at the parkway! That’s the sixth big screen in town!

The weather has been nutty. Really intense storms over the city this weekend.

Brains Play Set

I decided to make a play set for my animation, Brains a postmodern Prometheus story. Complete with removable shrinky-dink actors and a working doorway.

Professional Development

This was a kind of screen test for my bug guys. I drew it in Procreate (rotoscoped) and put the audio together.

Fun.
